Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. We've made a small guide explaining the main aspects of Smart PDF Forms that you might find helpful.

Matching form fields with the original PDF document:

As a default feature, whenever a PDF document is uploaded to the system, it automatically connects fields with the original PDF document. If there is any problem with the connections, you can manually connect your form fields with your PDF document. It’s really easy. Let me show you how:

• In Smart PDF Forms, select the field that has no connection with the original PDF document.
• After selecting it, click on the Add to PDF button.
• Then, move your cursor over the PDF side of the screen, and then position and resize it the way you want it.

Adding Form Elements, Payments, or Widgets manually:

• In Smart PDF Forms, click on the Add Form Element menu on the right side of the screen.
• In the menu that appears on the left side of the screen, you can add anything you like.

Designing Smart PDF Forms:

• In Smart PDF Forms, click on the Paint Roller icon on the right side of the screen.
• In the menu that appears, you can design your form anyway you prefer.
• Also, you can inject CSS codes to the Inject Custom CSS Codes section under the Style tab.
• After you make your changes, click on Save.

Disabling the right panel:

• In Smart PDF Forms, in the blue navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
• In the menu that come sup, disable the Original PDF connection to your Online Form option.

Publishing the Smart PDF form:

• In Smart PDF Forms, in the blue navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Publish.
• Here, you can publish your form using the link, email, or QR code.

Disabling the PDF thumbnail on the welcome page:

• In Smart PDF Forms, in the blue navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
• In the menu that comes up, uncheck the Show PDF thumbnail on the welcome page option.

Thank you for the detailed training areas.

When I add a Paragraph in the Basic Elements tab, it is added to the form field, but it does not create a smart field on the pdf.

The "add to pdf" or "remove from pdf" button does not appear in the paragraph area section of the form.

When I add other fields, such as short text, the "add to pdf" or "remove from pdf" button appears.

Thanks for getting back to us. I’m sorry you're having difficulties with this. Please note that you can not edit and add new fields to the original PDF. You will need to add the new fields outside of Jotform, using some PDF editor, and re-import the updated PDF.

I went ahead and cloned your form to do some tests. I could see that all the other fields on your PDF File are plain text. As you may know, The Smart PDF Form would only create the fields that need to be filled out. This means that Paragraph Fields aren't created automatically.

Also, please note that when uploading your PDF to create a Smart PDF Form, some of the fields may not be detected. To resolve this, you need to manually create the fields. After creating the form fields, you may then link the input field to your Original PDF. Let me show you how:

1. In your Smart PDF Form, click on the + Form Field on the left corner of the page and add the missing fields.
2. Then, position the box that pops up on the PDF document to the designated textbox of the PDF Document. That's it. Do the same to other missing fields.
