I now have some problems with this form: https://eu.jotform.com/build/231983188951368/. When i want to edit it (build) it now keeps asking to upload a pdf first. I build this form from scratch, not based on a pdf file. How to fix this?

    Hi Skkw,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I checked the form and it seems that you selected Smart PDF forms that require you to add a PDF to create a form. You can check out this guide about How to Use and Get the Best Out of Jotform Smart PDF Forms?

If you want to create a form without importing a PDF file. You can create it using the Classic Form, let me show you how to do it:

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 1 Screenshot 30

    • Next, select Start From Scratch or Use Template.

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 2 Screenshot 41

These options will allow you to create your form without adding a PDF File.

Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Thanks but I already made the form using a template. I was able to modify as well, but now it starts asking me to upload a pdf before I can modify. That is really strange. Don't want to start completely over again. Any idea on this? The only thing was that i wanted to make a pdf of this form afterwards.

    Hi Skkw,

Thanks for getting back to us. I’m sorry you're having difficulties with this. Can you please let us know from which template you created the form? When I tried to access your form from the backend, I can not see anything present in your form as there is no PDF attach to it.

To let you know in order to create a smart PDF form, you need to upload the PDF file in it. However, you can disable the original PDF in order to stop receiving the submissions in original PDF Format.

It would be great, if you could let us know the complete steps how you created the Smart PDF Form without uploading the PDF files, so we can try to replicate it on our end. At a moment you need to upload a template which you used to create a form to work.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

    Hi,

I can't really remember but I think I started with the template "Arts and Craft Fair Application Form" and then adjusted a lot.

As you can see here https://www.kreatievekringwestervoort.nl/index.php/nieuws/opendag it works, but now I can't make any changes anymore with the 'build' option

I found a little bit of a workaround to open one of my other forms, go to advanced editor and from there swith to the 'Aanmelding Open Dag' form but it's far from ideal.

I hope there's something you can do to disconnect the pdf upload so i don't have to make the form again.

    Hi Alejandro,

Thanks for patiently waiting. Unfortunately, I'm also replicating the issue. I was not able to edit the form. But, I have a workaround for you. Let me show you how to do it:

    • In Form Builder, click the button beside the Jotform logo on the top left part of the screen.
    • Next, click PDF Editor.

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 1 Screenshot 50

    • In PDF Editor, click PDF form and click Download.

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 2 Screenshot 61

    • After downloading go back to Form Builder and Upload the PDF form you just downloaded.

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 3 Screenshot 72

    • This will allow you to edit the form again. It will be not the same format but you can now edit it to look like the original form.

Smart PDF Form: Unable to edit the form, it requires me to upload a document Image 4 Screenshot 83

Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Thanks I did this already but the format got changed drastically so still need to do a lot of adjustment.

But I think there's no other solution then. Hopefully it won't happen again in the future when building from scratch or from a template
