Allow user to login without providing the previously provided data

Domanda del 15 settembre 2023 alle ore 06:04

    Buongiorno,

È possibile prevedere che un utente che ha già fornito i dati (obbligatori) in un form possa poi loggarsi allo stesso senza dover reimmettere tutti i dati? In tal caso, come avviene il processo?

    Grazie mille,

    Hi Andrea,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, our Italian Support agents are busy helping other Jotform users at the moment. I'll try to help you in English using Google Translate, but you can reply in whichever language you feel comfortable using. Or, if you'd rather have support in Italian, let us know and we can have them do that. But, keep in mind that you'd have to wait until they're available again.

Now, let me help you with your question. Are you trying to prefill the information previously provided by the user? Can you explain a bit more about what you want to do?

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

    Hi Chris,

No problem at all, we can speak in english! I'll try to explain properly my doubt: our agency is following a project in which is important that users that have already filled the form with their contact could express a new vote with a simple login, without fill all the data again: is it possible?

    Thank you very much,

    Hi Andrea,

Thanks for getting back to us. I apologize, but it seems a little unclear. Can you clarify which login you are referring to? Do you want the previously entered data to prefill on the form once the user revisit your form?

In the meantime, here's how the form works. If your form is set to public, the users can fill out your form without signing up or logging in to Jotform. If your form is set to Private, the user will be asked to log in to their Jotform account before they can fill out your form.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to help you with this.

    Good morning Chris,

What the client would like is for users who have already entered their data within the contact form to be able to return to cast the vote provided by the form without having to provide their data again, which must remain mandatory for new users.

    Thank you very much,

    Hi Andrea,

Thanks for getting back to us. In my understanding, it seems you are trying to build like a local database. When the user gets back to the form and enter a code, all their previously provided information will automatically fill the form. If my understanding is correct, our Spreadsheet to Form Widget will help you do that. Let me show you how to set that up:

    1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
    2. Under the Widgets tab, search for Spreadsheet to Form. Drag and drop the widget to your form.
Allow user to login without providing the previously provided data Image 1 Screenshot 40
    3. Click the Upload File canvass in the widget’s Settings panel.
    4. Upload the spreadsheet file.

    5. Select the Access Code Column from a dropdown. The widget will also ask you to select the Sheet Name if you have multiple sheets in the spreadsheet file.
Allow user to login without providing the previously provided data Image 3 Screenshot 62
    6. Set up the other options. Some of the options, such as the texts, are relatively straightforward, so let’s skip to the following:
    • Submit Input Field value — This option allows you to include the Unique Code as part of the submission, so it’s visible in both the emails and submissions page.
    • Autofill By Condition — Enabling this option allows the widget to autofill the fields without clicking the autofill button if the widget’s input field gets a value through the conditions. Here’s a demo form to see it in action.
    • Reset fields when Invalid — Choose whether to automatically clear the entered unique code value if it’s not present in the uploaded spreadsheet file.
    • Run in the background — Instead of hiding the widget when it’s configured to be filled by condition, enable this option to run it in the background.

    7. Finally, click the Update Widget button at the bottom, and that’s it!

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

    Good morning Chris,

Thank you for your reply and proposed solution. So there is no chance that a user who has already filled in the mandatory data can be automatically recognized by cookies and can log in through his google account or similar for subsequent logins?

    Thank you very much,

    Hi Andrea,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, that is not possible. You can also set the Allow Browser Autocomplete feature to Yes, which allows form respondents to store and autocomplete form fields in their browser. Do note that this feature will only work if the user also has activated it in their browser. Most browsers have this activated as default. Check out my screencast below:

Give it a try, and let us know how it goes.
