How can I organize the questions into submenus?

    Hi iscrizionisanmassimo,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, our Italian Support agents are busy helping other Jotform users at the moment. I'll try to help you in English using Google Translate, but you can reply in whichever language you feel comfortable using. Or, if you'd rather have support in Italian, let us know and we can have them do that. But, keep in mind that you'd have to wait until they're available again.

Now, let me help you with your question. I believe this can be achieved by Jotform's Conditions feature. This feature lets you show questions based on the answers that people gave. Let me show you how to set it up:

    1. On your My Forms page, hover your mouse over your form and click on Edit Form.
    2. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu and drag-drop the fields you want to use as follow-up questions (Short Text fields are used in this example).
    3. Click on the Type a Question text and change it to the question you want to use. How can I organize the questions into submenus? Image 1 Screenshot 40

Now, let's set up the conditions:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Conditions on the left of the page.
    3. Now, click on Add a New Condition and then click on Show/Hide Field.
    4. Set the conditions like you see below:
    • IF: Do you have a dog or a cat? (this is the question that has the choice that the form submitter needs to select)
    • STATE: Is Equal To
    • VALUE: Dog (the first choice)
    • DO: Show
    • FIELD: What is the name of your dog? (the follow-up question that you want to show) How can I organize the questions into submenus? Image 2 Screenshot 51

Set up Conditions for all the choices for your question. Check out the screencast below to see how your form will work after setting up the Conditions:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Princess,

    thank'you for your kind reply.

I have tried the solution you suggested and it worked for a single choice field, but not for a multiple choice: If you have a look at the form, there is field 9, where you are asked in which week you want to attend. There you can choose one, two or all three weeks (or waiting list, but it does not matter now). I have added 3 conditions depending on the choosen week, but it works only if I select only one week, then the form shows the two other hidden fields. If I choose 2 o 3 weeks, it does not work, no other field is shown.

Is there any other condition I can add in order to show the hidden fields with the multiple choice? I hope I could explain the matter in english...

Thank you again for your help.

    Hi iscrizionisanmassimo,

Thanks for getting back to us. If I understand correctly, you want to be able to select week 2 and week 3 and the 4 hidden fields linked to them will show. Currently, this is not possible. If form fillers select 2 options, the condition for option 1 will be in conflict with the condition for option 2 which is why when you select 2 options, nothing shows. The way conditions work is when it renders false, it will do the opposite. For the condition of week 2, if it is selected, it will not show the conditions for the other 2 options. The same goes if week 3 is selected. So if you select week 2 and week 3, they cancel each other out and no fields will get displayed.

We can go ahead and escalate this to our Developer Team if you like but when or if it's implemented depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it.

Let us know if you want to proceed with the escalation.

    Hi Deanne,

thank you for your quick response.

No, you do not need to let this topic escalate to the development team, thank you.

I will use the available fields, it is enough for our purpose.

    Bye

    Hi Davide,

Thanks for getting back to us. When I cloned and tested your form, the same thing happened for me s you see in the screenshot below:

After investigating it a bit, I found a solution. Instead of using Is Equal To on your logical conditions' if-rules to show the fields based on the option or options selected on the Gift Registry widget on your form, we will use Contains.  Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Settings.

    2. In the menu that opens on the left side of the page, click on Conditions.

    3. Hover your mouse over the logical condition you want to update and click on the Pencil icon on the right.

    4. Make the changes mentioned above to the logical condition and click on Save when you are done.

And that's it. Check out the screenshot below to see the result:
