What this about? The Berkshire Eagle and Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center are convening an informational forum on the issue to help educate voters on a proposal that would merge the Berkshire Hills and Southern Berkshire Regional school districts. Eight towns served by the districts are about to convene special town meetings this fall to vote up or down on the proposal.
How do I attend? The forum is free, but registration is required by visiting the Mahaiwe's event page. General admission is first-come, first-served. (If you have arrived at this form after registering to attend at the Mahaiwe's online registration website, you're in right place.)
When/where is the forum? The forum is Wednesday, October 4, at the Mahaiwe, 14 Castle St., Great Barrington. The forum gets underway at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
About the forum: Our forum will be led by Eagle Executive Editor Kevin Moran and will feature members of the Eight Town Regional School District Planning Board, the group that formed in March 2020 to study a merger in the face of declining enrollment and rising operating costs, as well as a group that speaks in opposition to the merger plan.
Submit your questions: We seek your questions in advance in order to have an orderly program and to address the most pressing questions for voters in the districts' towns. We will collate the questions to which you are seeking answers.
