    Guten Morgen,

    Hello Karin,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, our German Support agents are busy helping other Jotform users at the moment. I'll try to help you in English using Google Translate, but you can reply in whichever language you feel comfortable using. Or, if you'd rather have support in German, let us know and we can have them do that. But, keep in mind that you'd have to wait until they're available again.

Now, let me help you with your question. When you mentioned private IP addresses being handled by the server, did you mean capturing the IP address of your respondents? If so, Jotform captures the IP address of each form submission. It's automatically saved after their submission and can be viewed in your Jotform Tables. Just click the Columns button, then select the Submission IP column. Let me show you how:

The dates are also automatically captured in Jotform Tables, as seen in the submission date column above. To capture the time when the form was submitted, add a time Element, set it to read-only, and hide it so respondents won't know you're tracking the time when they submitted the form. Check out the screencast below to see my results:

Reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.

    Hi Mary-Ed,

thank you very much for your answer.

to be honest, I'd rather not have the IP adresse registered (meaning: visible for me), because that requires a specific data protection declaration in Germany. If there is a possibility that a submission can be traced back to a person via IP adress, especially in connection with date and time of submission, it is getting complicated. So. I'd rather exclude as much of that as possible. Day is fine, but the other information I would prefer not to have.

How can I achieve that? Is there a way to limit that kind of information?

Thank you very much for your support,

    Karin

    Hello Karin,

Thanks for getting back to us. I understand that you'd like to disable capturing IP addresses of your form submissions. Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable this feature.

I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

In the meantime, you can uncheck this option in the column to prevent the IP address from being displayed in your Jotform Tables.

You can also uncheck this option in Jotform Inbox:

Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.
