Description and Purpose
The purpose of the III NextGen program is to provide opportunities for professionals and academics with an interest in cross-border insolvency and restructuring to:
a. Enhance their knowledge and experience;
b. Take advantage of opportunities for direct interaction with leaders in the field;
c. Interact with other NextGen members; and
d. Support the development of NextGen members into future leaders of the profession.
Application Requirements
1. Nominees to the III NextGen Program are insolvency practitioners and academics with between 7* and 12 years’ experience and involvement in the insolvency area who are recommended and nominated by Members of the International Insolvency Institute ("III").
2. A NextGen applicant must have:
a. Some cross-border experience;
b. A demonstrated interest in international insolvency;
c. A good understanding of the insolvency laws and practice within their own jurisdiction, with technical skills commensurate with their level of experience; and
d. Active involvement in the profession reflective of their age and stage, as an indication of potential future leadership.
3. There will be a maximum of 15 nominees elected to the III NextGen Program in any one year.
4. Candidates must be nominated by Members of the III. The nominator can be working at the nominee's own firm, institution, or employer. If the nominator and nominee are from the same firm, the nominee should be seconded by a III member from another firm, institution, or employer.**
5. NextGen members selected for Class XV will be asked to commit to certain requirements once accepted, including:
a. Payment of NextGen dues annually;
b. Attending at least 2 III Annual Conferences and 3 regional conferences over the next 6 years (assuming sufficient regional conferences in the NG’s home region are held during this time); and
c. Active involvement in III and NextGen initiatives.
Nominations MUST be submitted in complete form by February 28, 2026 in order to be considered for Class XV.
*The 7 year (minimum) requirement may be waived on a discretionary basis in cases of applications from certain jurisdictions.
** The requirement of a seconding from a different firm, institution, or employer, is capable of being waived on a discretionary basis if there are not sufficient III members in the jurisdiction that is proposing the NG member.
