Training Info: Navigating the child welfare legal system is often one of the most significant challenges for families caring for a child in foster care. The complexities of the judicial system can be disorienting, frustrating, humbling, and, at times, deflating. Join ASA Now and Stuart & Blackwell, PLLC for this workshop where we will present the five essential aspects every foster and kinship placement should understand about the legal system. Additionally, we will provide forms and worksheets to assist you in staying organized and comprehending the developments in your child's case.
✨ Who can attend: This training is open to Kinship Caregivers, Licensed Foster Caregivers, Guardianship Caregivers for children who are under the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS). It is also relevant for CASA, Attorneys, GAL, Juvenile Judges, Behavioral Health professionals, Licensing Agencies and staff, as well as any professionals working with children currently in the custody of Arizona DCS.
📜 Certificate: A 1.5-hour certificate of attendance will be provided
💲 Cost: There is a $10 workshop charge per family registration, per workshop date. Payment received will go directly to help offset the operation and maintenance cost of ASA Now

Presenter Bio: Cory Stuart and Kristy Blackwell are the partners of Stuart & Blackwell, a family and juvenile law firm in Chandler, Arizona. Their firm was established in 2011, and together, they bring over 32 years of experience in litigating family law and juvenile matters. They handle various legal matters, including private placement adoptions, DCS adoption finalizations, interstate adoptions, dependency cases for foster/kinship parents, juvenile and adult guardianships, as well as estate planning. Both are fellows of the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, and Kristy was the President of the Arizona Adoption Coalition (2019-2022).
