As the founder and CEO of Jotform, I’ve fielded many questions from users over the past 15 years.
These questions range from company-focused to product-focused to everything in between.
One question that comes up often is, “Why doesn’t Jotform charge transaction fees on payments?”
Today, I’d love to share a few reasons why we don’t do this at Jotform.
1. We believe in creating a frictionless experience for our users
At Jotform, our mission is “to make organizations more productive and our users’ lives easier.” We’ve always put our users front and center, and want our product to provide a simple, frictionless experience.
So we remove any barriers to getting started with Jotform, and that includes not charging transaction fees on payments.
If a user wants to integrate a payment processor with their form, all they have to do is drag and drop it onto the form, and they can start collecting payments right away.
Keeping things simple makes it easy for users to get started and allows them to be productive from the get-go.
2. We don’t charge more than we need to
Since 2006, Jotform has grown into a sizable company with millions of users worldwide.
We’re so happy that Jotform has become one of the most popular online form builders on the market. This allows us to give users more without adding extra fees.
Because we don’t charge extra fees, we’ve seen more and more small businesses, nonprofits, and healthcare providers integrate with our 30+ payment processors to create a seamless payment collection process.
3. Our vision is to be a market leader in payments
One of our long-term goals is to be a market leader in payments. This means that our users can seamlessly use multiple payment gateways for online transactions, collecting payments from clients or gathering donations.
Each year, we get closer to this goal. Eventually we want to support all payment gateways, making it even easier for people to collect online payments.
Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t charge additional transaction fees. And our users value this — they spread the word about Jotform and help us grow.
The number of users who benefit from collecting payments through Jotform is truly incredible. Thank you for being a Jotform user; we appreciate you!

Can I make a payment with a credit card overseas have to pay 3 transactions but their portal does not accept US Credit Cards VISA, DISCOVER etc etc

I will say I've always appreciated this. I handle the tech of a tiny non-profit and have our forms Square integrated and they already take a cut from sales.
Jotforms lets us easily make the forms and collect data in ways we can use for other things in addition to collecting money, so it's great for us. But if Jotform also began taking a cut, we'd be forced to reassess our approach and make the decision if the data collecting is worth the income lost.
