Patients know they’re in good hands when they visit Highlands Sport and Spine, a clinic located in Denver, Colorado. At Highlands, clinicians focus on alleviating musculoskeletal pain and promoting injury rehabilitation through services like chiropractic care and acupuncture.
With a patient demographic that spans everyday people to elite athletes, the specialists at Highlands understand medical data has to be handled carefully. According to Jonathan Weimer, owner and sports chiropractor at Highlands, the team initially relied on pen and paper for patient intake forms. But Highland eventually found the entire process of gathering and inputting that data too time-consuming.
“We were physically scanning IDs to get the insurance cards, and then we were taking that data and physically putting it into our electronic health records,” Weimer says. “It was a cumbersome process.”
Highlands employees went on the hunt for a platform that could digitize intake forms. After some digging, one staff member discovered through a Reddit thread that other healthcare professionals used Jotform. Staff also saw that Jotform could be used in a way that enabled HIPAA compliance, and for a clinic like Highlands, that was a must-have.
Once Highlands implemented Jotform into its workflows, employees noticed how much time they could save on administrative tasks. In fact, Weimer credits Jotform with reducing the time spent processing patients by close to 80 percent.
Jotform has also reduced administrative costs for the clinic. Since Highlands no longer needs to rely on physical forms, according to Weimer, the clinic doesn’t have to continue buying paper. Weimer says this has saved almost 50 percent in expenses.
Highlands regularly relies on a general patient intake form, consent forms, and insurance verification forms, all made with Jotform, to quickly process patients.
And since Highlands has synced its data with Google Sheets and monday.com, staff are guaranteed more streamlined flows. Ultimately, this means that Jotform lets Highlands employees focus less on tedious paperwork and more on what they do best.
“Interacting with people, getting them feeling well…on a regular basis is really what I love to do, not spend a ton of time working charts and putting data in,” Weimer says. “The fact that I’m able to do that more now, using Jotform, has been a huge plus to our office.”
