Another question... I want to use the same ticketing system as the person in this support thread, but the links to the sample forms at the bottom of the thread are gone. Is there another way to find them on your end?

    Hi c10sinthecity,

Thanks for contacting Jotform Support. I've tried locating the forms in our database but unfortunately, both of them are no longer available in our system. As a workaround, you can follow the instructions provided by the ticket and by creating a new form.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Hello. I was able to set this up successfully. Now, I'm trying to set up self-check-in. If the person has the confirmation email on their phone, they won't be able to scan the QR code. Is there a way for them to type/paste their registration code to get the same result? When testing, when I type a valid code, I get an error indicating that the widget couldn't find the access code given.

    Hi c10sinthecity,

I cloned your form and tested it to see if I could replicate the issue, but everything was working properly. Check out the screencast below to see my results:

Did you manually type in the code? If so, can you try to copy and paste it? In this way, we can ensure that the correct codes are entered. I have cleared your form caches.  If the same thing happens again, try to Clear the Cache and Cookies in Your Web Browser.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

The text under the registrant code field is mislabeled. It's actually a button you have to click to check the code. Try again and you will get an error. You can also check the submission, and you'll see it's blank.

By the way, it's silly to ask people to click two buttons when filling out the form. Is there a way around that?

    Hi c10sinthecity,

Both widgets provided different functions. So, the user cannot just click one button and expect two different functions to work. It appears that your initial question is if a user can enter the code from their email. Yes, it makes no difference whether you type or scan the code. Can you take a screenshot of the excel file in which the code in your screenshot appears as a unique code? This guide will show you how to do that.

Once we hear back from you, we'll be able to move forward with a solution.

I'm not sure what Excel file you're referring to.

    Hi c10sinthecity,

The file you uploaded to the Spreadsheet to Form widget or the Registrant Code.

How to Integrate Forms With Google Sheets? Image 1 Screenshot 50It should be noted that the widget will be successful if the code is included in the excel file as a unique code. That widget will not automatically detect whether the code is correct or not. To determine whether the code entered is correct, add all the registration codes as a unique name. Let me show you how the widget works in your case. I created a sample file below, which will be served as code.

How to Integrate Forms With Google Sheets? Image 2 Screenshot 61Then I uploaded it to my cloned form and chose the Code as an access code. As a result, all values below that Code will be treated as valid. I also changed the Valid Code text to Valid code.

How to Integrate Forms With Google Sheets? Image 3 Screenshot 72Take a look at the screencast below to see my results:

How to Integrate Forms With Google Sheets? Image 4 Screenshot 83 In your case, once the form has been submitted, you must obtain the Registrant ID generated from the Registration Form's submission table. Please keep in mind that each time a new user completes your Registration Form, you must manually insert the Registration Code into the spreadsheet and re-upload the excel file in your Check In Form.

To learn more about how the widget works, particularly when autopopulating form fields from Excel. See, How to Use the Spreadsheet to Form Widget guide.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

The code comes from the random number generator widget. I can't find that form—could that be why I'm getting an error? What should I do?

    Hi c10sinthecity,

To clarify, this is the Registration form where the random code comes from. If so, you should download an Excel copy of the submission of this form from the Submission Tables and upload it as the Excel file in the Spreadsheet to Form widget of the Check-In form. Since the Excel file is static, when there are new submissions on your Registration form, you must download a new Excel copy and update the widget.

If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more so I can help you better?

Oookay. I see. There isn't a way to use Google Sheets so it updates automatically?

    Hi c10sinthecity,

Sure, you can import data to an existing Google Sheet or create a new one using our Google Sheets Integration. Let me show you how to set that up:

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Settings.
    2. Click on Integrations on the left side of the screen.
    3. Select the Google Sheets Integration.
    4. Now, select or connect your Google account.

    5. Click on Use an Existing Spreadsheet  or Create new Spreadsheet.
    6. Select your Google Spreadsheet and your form fields.
    7. Now, click on Save and you're done.

Got it. But how do I connect the Google Sheet to the widget on the check-in form? I only see an option to upload a file:

    Hi c10sinthecity,

The feature you are looking for is currently not available. It is not possible to connect a Google Sheet to the Spreadsheet to Form widget. You will need to download the data in an Excel file, format it, and then upload it to the Spreadsheet to Form widget.

We also have a guide to help you learn How to Use the Spreadsheet to Form Widget.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.
