the document in the forms are coming correctly but the name of documents are irregular or user defined. Means when a user uploads a file suppose in a xyz field the name of the file which is uploaded should be xyz but the name is random. Can anything be done regarding this.

    Hello Siddant,

Thank you for contacting Jotform Support. I understand that you're referring to changing the name of files uploaded by users. Let me walk you through how to do it.

    • Open the quick access menu in the Form Builder.
    • Note: The quick access menu is also available in other Jotform products.
    • Choose PDF Editor.

YOUR SOLUTION IS UPDATING THE PDF GENERATED BY THE JOT FORM. BUT YOU SEE IN THE ABOVE IMAGE I WANT TO RENAME THE DOCUMENTS UPLOADED BY THE USER. SUCH AS YOU CAN SEE ABOVE THE DOCUMENTS OF A INVOICE IS UPLOADED BY THE USER BUT THE INVOICE NAME IS USER DEFINED. I WANT TO RENAME THE UPLOADED DOCUMENT BY THE USER ACCORDING TO THE FIELD.

YOUR SOLUTION IS CHANGING THE NAME OF THE PDF AUTO GENERATED BY THE JOT FORM. BUT I WANT TO CHANGE THE DOCUMENTS NAME UPLOADED BY THE USER. FOR EXAMPLE YOU CAN SEE THE DOCUMENT NAMED LETTER(1) BUT I WANT THE NAME TO BE ACCORDING TO THE FIELD OF FORM IN WHICH THE USER UPLOADED THE DOCUMENT.

    Hello Siddant,

Thanks for getting back to us and for providing more information about the issue. Unfortunately, it is not possible to rename the uploaded files in Jotform. The system uploads the file and keeps it the way the user has uploaded it. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

CAN WE TAG THE QUESTION OR FIELD FOR WHICH THE DOCUMENT. OR GET AN EXCEL SHEET WITH LINKS OF THE FILE CORRESPONDING TO THE FIELD/QUESTION.

    Hello Siddant,

Thank you for reaching back to us. Do you mean adding a field that will automatically read the file name? Unfortunately, since it is an upload field, it cannot be used for copy fields conditions on forms. We suggest you provide instruction on your form instead so you can easily identify the uploads.

If there are any updates on the feature request, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
