Visual Reports: Show the total assigned calculation value of each selected answer

After doing research to find out which form builder product would be the best one to help a colleague small business, I was very impressed with Jotform. You’ve created a great product that is easy to use, very templatized across a variety of form types/industries. I’m doing a test with it to see if it will work for this small business. What I can’t figure out how to do in the product is make a summary visualization report of the total results. I want to be able to visualize the summary results of the data in an easy snapshot for both the user and the business owner. Does Jotform do this?

    Thanks

    :: Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for reaching out to JotForm Support. We're glad that you're impressed with our platform. I can't seem to locate a form in your account, but you can view a summary of products using our Visual Report. Let me show you how to create one:

    1. On your My Forms page, select the form that you want to create a report for.

    2. Click on Reports at the top of the page, and then click on Add New Report.

    3. Now, select Visual Report Builder, which will open Report Builder.

    4. Enter a Report name and choose a Report Type.

    5. Then, click on Create and that’s it. You’re done.

We also have a guide about How to Create a Visual Report with Your Form Submissions that you can check out. As for sharing the Visual Report, you can check out this guide instead.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

    Thank you! That’s really helpful.

To be more specific, I’m trying to figure out how to assign values to each answer in my form and then tally the results into a visual report that represents the sum of the total responses. So that the end summary result will look something like this (hopefully much better visually). See below -

    Hi Jeff,

Although you can assign values to each answer in your form, such values can only be used for calculation inside the form and won't come into reports. In our Visual Reports, you can only see how many times an answer has been selected like this:

I understand you want the total of the values assigned to each answer to see in reports, so I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

Thanks for the answer Sonnyfer. Really appreciate it. Bummer Jotform can’t do this yet. In my research, I haven’t found another tool that does or does it well. Plus the other form services aren’t as great or as well designed/built as Jotform (which is why I was really hoping you had this capability). Thanks for escalating it to the development team. I totally understand there is no guarantee they can build it - I’ve led software product/design/engineering teams throughout my career, so I totally know how that is when getting requests from customers and balancing that with other roadmap priorities.

I wonder if there is another creative solution? Could I get the data from the survey, export it to Excel or Sheets? If I could get all the raw data, then I could 1) bring it into a Visual Report for each answer (like your chart above) and if I could export it then 2) I could generate my own total summary report in Excel from the scored data.

I guess the last creative option would doing some custom development. Does Jotform have a services team that can development for customers? Or preferred partners who know how to build on/integrate with Jotform to do this type of development?

Also, I realize this isn’t your day job. If there is someone in your product/partner team that would be better to work with me on this, please let me know. I’ve already taken up a lot of your time.

Ahh.. I see you can create CSV and Excel reports from the results of a Jotform. So I think what I’m describing above could potentially work. I’d have to build a custom script to summarize it in Excel, but maybe that’s a good enough solution for now.

    Hello Jeff,

Sure, you can download your data from Jotform Tables in CSV, Excel, or PDF format. Let me show you how:

    • On your My Tables page, next to the form with the submissions you want to see, click on View Table.
    • Hover your mouse over the Download All button on the right side of the page.
    • Now, choose CSV, Excel, or PDF format and download your data.

We don't provide custom form creation or designing services, but you're welcome to work with a third party who may be able to help you. You can check out our Jotform Solutions Partner Directory for a list of consultants who've asked to be included.

You can get in touch with the right Solutions Partner for you by sorting them by location, type of service, industry, language support, or partner tier. Just fill out the contact form for the Jotform partner you'd like to work with, so they can make the necessary preparations to help you.

Keep in mind, though, that these parties operate independently of Jotform, so we assume no responsibility or liability for their work or their actions. You might also want to consider hiring a Certified Jotform Expert to help you with your requirements. You could look into hiring one on Fiverr.

We hope you find the help you're looking for.
