Hello, I am looking for a widget to add to a form that once an applicant selects a state it will allow them to select multiple counties. If you can please let me know, thank you. Chandra

Hi tpgalliancellc,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, we don't have a widget allowing the user to select a state to show multiple counties. But we do have the US County Finder widget which might be useful. This generates the user's county based on the Address field. Let me show you where to add it:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Form Element on the left.
- Click on the Widgets tab on the left menu.
- Search and click on US County Finder.
- Enter the Google API Key and select the Address field.
- Then click on Update Widget.
If this doesn't work for you, as a workaround, you can add a Dropdown field to list the states and add a Dropdown field for each state to list its counties. I would hide these County Dropdown fields, and use Conditional Logic to show the list of counties based on the state selected. Let me walk you through it:
- In Form Builder, click on Add Form Element on the left.
- Click on Dropdown on the left menu.
- Now, click on the Gear icon next to the Dropdown field. Then click on the Options tab on the right panel.
- Select US States under Predefined Options.
- For this example, I added two Dropdown fields and named them Counties in Alabama and Counties in Alaska. I toggled Hide field to hide these fields.
Now, we can look into adding conditions to show the County Dropdown field based on the state selected:
- From where you left off, click on Settings in the top center of the page.
- Then click on Conditions on the left menu.
- Here, click on Add Condition.
- Click on Show/Hide Field.
- Add the following conditions, and click on Save:
After completing the steps, here's the result:
We also have a guide about How to Show or Hide Fields Conditionally that you can check out. While the exact feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. When or if it's implemented depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
Reach out again if you have any other questions.

Good day!
Thank you for your previous assistance. I have a couple of questions and need further help regarding the setup of dropdown options in my form.
- Google API Key Charges: I am aware that using a Google API key may incur charges if the usage exceeds the free tier limits. Could you please confirm if there are any specific costs associated with the API key if I use it for integrating dropdown options in my form?
- Dropdown Options Issue: I followed the instructions for setting up US States and counties via dropdown fields in my form. However, I am unable to see the county options when creating conditions. I have attached a screenshot showing that two US States were added because the first widget option was different from the example provided, so I created a new one. Despite this, the counties are not displaying correctly in the second dropdown field.
- Could you please advise on how to properly configure the conditions to display the county options based on the selected state? Any guidance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support and assistance.
I USED 7. US States (created via dropdown) it showed the same as yours but I cannot see the dropdown for the counties to match Counties in Indiana.
The above is the 6. State (a widget used) not the same option from your example.
I think I should use The 1st one but what am I missing. Thank you for the help.
Regards,
Cherisse

Hi Cherisse,
If you decided to use dropdown, you will have to manually add a dropdown for each state and type in the counties for each one. Then, you will have to add a condition for them, as my colleague showed. Unfortunately, there is no faster way to achieve this when using dropdown fields.
Your first question has been moved to a new thread. We are working on it, and you should receive a reply soon here.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

I will check with the team regarding the Google API key since it is associated with a fee. Please help me out with the workaround that you gave as an option. I shared the screenshot when I tried doing it. Thank you

Hi Cherisse,
I have checked your form and it shows you did not manually add a dropdown for each County. You need to manually add a dropdown field and set up the county for each state. Let me show you how:
1. Open your form in Form Builder and Add a Dropdown form Element.
2. Click on the Gear Icon.
3. Under Properties, click on Options.
4. For example for the County of Alabama. Search for the counties and paste it under Options.
5. Click on Advanced then Hide the field.
Now you need to set up the conditions. Let me show you how:
1. In the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Settings.
2. On the left panel, click on Conditions.
3. Under conditions, click on Add New Condition.
4. Click on Show/Hide field.
5. Set up the condition as shown in the screenshot below:
Check out the screencast below to see my results:
Please note that you need to manually add it to your form. Since there are 50 states then you need to add 50 dropdowns for each county and search for the counties to paste it under options. You also need to set up each condition per county as shown above.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Hello,
Here's the updated form but I will still need to complete it at a later time today. Please check https://form.jotform.com/242426780337055 I used Indiana as my example. Sometimes they need to choose multiple counties per state, so that means I have to add and hide more than 1 dropdown for the county. It is not possible to choose multiple counties in 1 dropdown. Thank you for the help. It is really great

Hi Cherisse,
If there's a need to choose multiple counties per state you can add a Multiple Choice Element instead of a Dropdown. Take a look at the screenshot below:
Just follow the same steps in my previous reply. Check out the screencast below to see my results:
Give it a try and let us know if you need any other help.

I have another question: Since sometimes they cover multiple states: https://form.jotform.com/242426780337055 - Sample Coverage Form: I added another option for State if they cover more than 1 state. The sample counties are Indiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Are there another option for that. Thank you

Hi Cherisse,
If the form filler will cover multiple states (Indiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma) we can set it up. Let me show you how:
1. Open your form in Form Builder, and add a Single-choice element.
2. Then Add Options.
3. Then add a multiple-choice element for the US States to select more than 1.
4. Under properties, click on Options. Then make the field Hidden.
5. Set up the conditions as shown in the screenshot below:
Check out the screencast below to see my results:
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hi Cherisse,
Would you like to display only the selected states? I reviewed your form and noticed that you added a multiple-choice element. This means that all the options you added to the multiple-choice question will always be shown. As a solution, you can use the Checkbox in Dropdown widget, which will display a dropdown to select the options. Once the options are selected, only the selected option will be shown. Let me show you how:
1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
2. Click on the Widgets tab, search for the Checkbox in Dropdown, and click on it to add.
3. Click on the wand icon, and in the General tab, add all the states in the Options box. You can also enter the Maximum Selection to limit the number of selections.
4. Finally, click on the Update widget button.
That's it. Now, only the selected options will be shown. Check out the screencast below to see the result:
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hi Cherisse,
I reviewed your form, and it appears that you have added multiple-choice elements for a few of the counties. I understand that you want to let your form fillers select more than one state and then based on the selection of states, you want to show the list of counties. A better workaround would be to use the Checkbox in Dropdown widget to show the US states and their counties and conditionally show the counties based on the states. This will make your form compact. Let me show you how:
1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
2. Click on the Widgets tab, add a Checkbox in Dropdown widget, and change the label.
3. Click on the Wand icon.
4. In the General Tab, add all the US States in the Options box.
5. Finally, click on the Update Widget button.
Similarly, add a Checkbox in Dropdown widget for the counties of each state. Now, let us add conditions to show the county based on the user's answer in the state.
1. In Form Builder, click on the Settings tab from the orange navigation bar.
2. Click Conditions on the left menu, and then select the SHOW/HIDE FIELD condition.
3. Add condition as shown below:
- In IF, select the US States Checkbox in Dropdown widget
- In STATE, select Contains.
- In Value, type the state name.
- In DO, select Show and select the Checkbox in Dropdown widget for that state's county.
Similarly, add a condition for each state to show the widget for that county. Your condition should look like this:
That's it. Now, when a state or more than one state is selected, the counties for that state will be shown. Check out the screencast below to see the result:
Here is a demo version of the form that you can clone and test.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Good Day! On this option below: 1.
Once we add using the checkbox widget, how to proceed with the condition thanks

Hi Cherisse,
If you review my reply, I have provided the steps to add conditions to show the widget based on the user's answer in the state. Let me paste it here again:
