How does connecting an online form to the uploaded PDF works?

I think I understand the connecting between the online form and the uploaded pdf. But my question is how and why is this done. Is it intended that when the online form is filled out that it will automatically populate my pdf somewhere that I can download?

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Yes, you are correct. Connecting an online form to the uploaded PDF will automatically generate a filled-out PDF document based on the responses submitted through the online form. I can walk you through setting that up:

1. In My Forms page, click on Create in the upper-left corner.
   
   
   
2. On the next page, select Form from the menu.
   
   
3. Under the Create a Form page, choose Import Form.
   
   
4. Now, on the Import Form menu, select Import PDF form to open Smart PDF Forms.
   
   
   You can also go to this page and click on Convert PDF to Fillable Form.
   
   5. In Smart PDF Form Builder, select Upload PDF Form, then choose your PDF file.
   
   
   After that, you'll see your imported PDF along with the online form created from it. Note that the online form will not look the same as the imported file. The system will try its best to fetch and clone the form fields from your PDF file.
   
   6. Lastly, Map the fields on your online form to your PDF document and customize your online form to your liking. You can check more details here.
