Hello. I want to create a form that I upload an excel or CVS file into. I want the form to be able to verify if u formation is missing in specific cells.

Can I do this? And is there a tutorial that explains how?

    Thank you!

    Hi Danna,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. If I understand correctly, you would like to have a form that is able to check the information from your Excel file on which column is blank. Is that correct? If yes, you can use the Spreadsheet to Form widget. This widget will allow you to upload an Excel file and select a column on the Excel file as its Access Code. Once a user enters the correct access code, it will fill up the fields on your form. Here's how to do it:

    1. In Form Builder, on the left side of the screen, click on Add Form Element.

    2. On the left panel, go to Widgets.

    3. Search for Spreadsheet to Form and click/drag to add into the form.

    4. On the right panel, click on Upload File and select your file.

    5. Select a column from the Excel file under Access code column.

    6. Click on Update Widget.

We also have a guide about How to Use the Spreadsheet to Form Widget that you can check out.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Thank you Christopher. I don't think I was clear in my description of what I need it to do.

I want to upload a cvs or excel sheet to the form. I want the form to check that all cells on the form have information in them. I want it to highlight or somehow tell me which cells are missing information. Is this more clear?

    Thanks,

    Hi Danna,

Unfortunately, it is not possible at this time. You can't be able to check each cell of the uploaded CSV or Excel file and highlight blank cells. You need to download the CSV or Excel file and manually check them, as a workaround.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

    What does this mean?

    Hi Danna,

Unfortunately, the feature you're looking for is not currently available. As a workaround, you can find the blank cells directly on the Excel or CSV file. I found the guide here from Microsoft you can use to check for blank fields. While the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now, we've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers. Exactly when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
