How to move from form 2 back to form 1 with the fields pre-filled.

I have another inquiry. I've created two forms: Form 1 and Form 2, with Form 2 linked from a section in Form 1. Participants will begin filling out Form 1 using this link: https://form.jotform.com/241482376674465. Upon reaching Section 2 in Form 1, there's a link provided that directs them to Form 2, where they can complete the remaining information and print it.

In Form 2, I am looking for a method that allows participants to return to where they left off in Form 1 without needing to restart from the beginning and re-enter all previously filled fields. I structured this process because I couldn't find a solution to enable participants to print specific pages from Form 1. If there is a way to enable printing of specific pages, please advise, as this would allow me to consolidate everything into one form. If not, please provide guidance on how to effectively link these two forms together.

    Hi Yasmeen,

As I mentioned, a while ago, I will answer your question here. Let's discuss the issue here. I understand that you have a link from form 1 that will point the user to form 2. But I think we'll need to clarify some things in terms of process flow.

The problem that I see here is that how will you then submit form 1 after the user gets redirected to form 2? From the flow that you are working on, while it's easy to point the user from form 1 to form 2 using a link, this will not save any data in form 1, or even prefill data from form 1 to form 2.

I believe we can help you build a proper flow here or utilize some tools and features that Jotform has in its system but we'll need to have a detailed understanding on what you need to transmit from form 1 to form 2 and back to form 1. You may also tell us more why you have to have two separate forms for this if it can e done within one form.

As soon as we hear back from you with the specifications that you are working on, we'll happily help you with this.

Thank you for your insights and assistance in navigating this process. Allow me to provide some context regarding why we have two separate forms:

Initially, I designed a single form to streamline the process. However, a critical requirement emerged where participants needed to print specific pages for manual signing, stamping, and scanning before submission. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a feature within Jotform that allows users to print specific pages directly from Form 1.

To address this, I created Form 2, which isolates the pages needing manual signatures. This separation enables participants to fill out, print, sign, stamp, and scan those specific pages, then upload it in form 1 to submit.

If there's a method to enable printing specific pages directly from Form 1, I'd be grateful to learn about it. This knowledge would allow us to consolidate everything into a single form. Until then, the current flow entails starting with Form 1, proceeding to Form 2 for printing and signing, and returning to Form 1 to submit the signed and stamped documents.

I appreciate your support in optimizing this process and look forward to your guidance.

    Hi yasmeenalbanna2510,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now. It's not possible to print specific pages automatically, but the end user can specify which pages to print when clicking the print button.

We've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

If you like the user to be able to go back and continue filling out the first form,  they need to submit the form and you can send them an email with the edit link to edit the submission instead.  It's easy, let's do it:

    • Open your form in Form Builder, and in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    • In the Settings menu, click on Emails and hover your mouse over the Autoresponder Email.
    • Click on the Pencil icon, and in the window that opens, click on the Form Fields dropdown menu and select Edit Link.
    • After adding the link, click on Save, and you're done.

After submitting the form, the submitters will get an email like the one below:

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
