I want to expand a simple Expense field into one more complex and could use some help... I'm a lone wolf user/admin/designer with one active form with only 3 active users so your the only help I can get!

Here are specs: The current form, SHARE advocate client record, has a simple expense field: date, amount and description. I want to add 3 more data elements as drop-downs and leave amount and description as they are, fillins...

    Funder|Category|SubCat|Amount|Description

    F1,F2,F3|C1,C2,C3|SC1,SC2,SC3|$.00|short text field

F1|C3|SC1$100.00|This is an example of completed field........

    tx, frank

    Hi shareadm1,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, the Infinite List widget does not support dropdowns. A workaround is to use the Configurable List widget. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
    2. Under the Widgets tab, select Configurable List, and drag and drop the widget to your form.
    3. Select the widget's Wand icon and configure the fields. Make sure to enter 1 in the Maximal rows number.

As for the existing Infinite List widgets, you can simply hide them in the form so that they are no longer visible, and deleting the fields will result in the loss of any data entered into the fields.

    1. Select your widget's Gear icon to open its properties.
    2. Go to Advanced tab and toggle Hide field to On.

We also have a guide about How to Set Up the Configurable List Widget that you can check out.

Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.

Super, works great....one question: what is the syntax to use to declare an amount field a currency field and a description as short/long text?

Also, when adding a new row row, can it be prefilled with the one we just finished, it would save some keying!!

    Hi shareadm1,

Configurable List widget does not support a currency field. For the amount field, you can use the number syntax.

As for your other question, you can duplicate the widget to save time configuring a new one. Let me show you how:

    1. In Form Builder, select your widget's Gear icon to open its properties.
    2. Under General tab, click Duplicate at the bottom.

I think we got it.. Dup works but I wanted a dup of a filled in list e.g. one that two categories such as lodging and transportation...................no problem, just a little more typing...

    Hi shareadm1,

Note that if you're working on the same field, you can copy and paste it into the fields configuration box. Check out the screencast below to see how it's done:

In setting up categories and sub-cats I see they aren't related to one another...meaning after i pick a cat then I have the full list for all cats to sort thru...is there a way to have sub cats slaved to the cat.....

    Hello Shareadm1,

When you mention adding sub-categories, I believe they are all related if they are in the same row. Unless you clearly add another row and insert a new set of details.

If you're referring to something else, can you share a screen recording explaining or showing us what the issue was so we can better assist you with a workaround? Please upload your screen recording to any cloud-based storage like Google Drive and set its shared link to public so we can access it, and share the link here.

Keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help.

    Hello Shareadm1,

Can you please let us know for which field you want to change the input text color? I can take a look if we can help you with a CSS code to do that.

Once we hear back from you we can move forward with a solution.

If I have a table somewhere with cats and sub-cats and have user just put in sub-cat can the cat then be looked up in a table and the cat field filled with value?

    Hi Shareadm1,

Can you explain a bit more, so I can help you better? We have a Spreadsheet to form widget that you can use to import your data, and the values are automatically populated when the column headings match your form field labels.  Let me show you how to use it:

    • Create a spreadsheet that includes your data in the structure you see below. It's important that the column names in the spreadsheet and field names on the form are the same.

    • In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
    • Under the Widgets tab, search for the Spreadsheet to Form widget and add it to your form.

    • In the Widget Settings window that opens up, upload your data file and customize the other options.
    • Then, click on Update Widget.

    • In the final stage, add the fields to view values and name them the same as on the spreadsheet.

If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more so I can help you better?

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

    Hi Shareadm1,

I'll need to move your request for modifying the color using CSS code to another thread. You can check that out here. One of my colleagues will respond to that thread.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
