How to use the File Upload element to be mapped to the Smart PDF

I have an online Jotform that I want formatted to match a physical form used in our office. My original version is working well but prints out in a less than ideal manner.

I created a new version based on your PDF creation process and found I can't get some of the form elements to show on the PDF. (There is no "Add to PDF" hover beside the build control.) For example, the user needs to upload an image, this works and prints fine on the original but I cant get the field to add to the PDF itself. Since this PDF is what gets emailed to the office we would like the image to display without having to load it from the Jotform tables each time.

Additionally, I would have liked to scan the second page of the physical form and use it as the background of the extra info. Can't seem to figure out that one.

So, should I just have kept to making "forms" and then figuring out how to format the data for printing
-or- do what I am doing and trying to create a "smart PDF" from the start?

I get the feeling I am misunderstanding the role of each but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

    Hi Ray,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, it is not possible to add the File Upload element in the PDF version of your Smart PDF form, as it can't be mapped in it.

As a workaround, I'd like to suggest using the Take Photo widget instead, which can be added and mapped to the PDF. Let me show you how:

    1. In Smart PDF Forms, click on Add Form Element on the left.
    2. Go to the Widgets tab.
    3. Search for Take Photo and add it anywhere in the form.
    4. Once added, it will be automatically mapped in the PDF version. Position the field map anywhere you desire.

As for your other question, I've moved that to a new thread. You can check that out here.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Ray,

I just want to let you know that while the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. When or if it's implemented depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.
