Is it possible to create a dropdown list based on a list that I import from another system (e.g, Excel)? Use Case: I use Jotform for employees to submit Time Off Requests. I would like for the Employee Name to be selected from a dropdown list based on information that lives in ADP (but that I could import to Jotform from excel or another workaround if that is easier). I would like for that list to include each employee's corresponding ID#, and for another field (ID#) to autopopulate with that number.

Hi Daniel ,
Thanks for contacting Jotform Support. Unfortunately, drop-down data cannot be populated from any external source, such as a CSV file. You would have to manually enter the data in the form's drop-down field options. We have a Spreadsheet to form widget widget that you can use to import your data. This widget allows you to upload data in an Excel file, with each piece of information in its own column. When a user inputs unique data into the widget, the corresponding data from the Excel file is retrieved, and the form fields are automatically populated. Let me show you how to use it:
- Create a spreadsheet that includes your data in the structure you see below. It's important that the column names in the spreadsheet and field names on the form are the same.
- In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.
- Under the Widgets tab, search for the Spreadsheet to Form widget and add it to your form.
- In the Widget Settings window that opens up, upload your data file and customize the other options.
- Then, click on Update Widget.
- In the final stage, add the fields to view values and name them the same as on the spreadsheet.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.
