User Contributed Dropdown w/Option Additions

TLDR: I need a way to allow my team to add new dropdown entries within a searchable dropdown widget.

• ISSUE OVERVIEW: We have hundreds of source names in our referral source fields which requires the fields to be searchable and new sources come in daily.
• Time is critical when entering a new patient case.
• Source Names must be standardized to avoid typos/entry errors for tracking.
• We get a TON of new source names every day/week
• Lack of searchable dropdowns w/user additions requires data entry to either stop and edit the form OR record the name in a note and go edit the entry/add new field option later.
• And we would prefer they don't have edit access in the first place.
• What We Have Tried & Issues With Each
• Dynamic Dropdowns: Allows users to search but not add new options.
• We currently use this + a text field for "other source name." The form is required to be manually updated daily.
• User Contributed Dropdown: Doesn't allow user to search the field.
• Scrolling 100s-1000s of options isn't efficient and has resulted in errors/duplicates.
• Auto Complete Widget: Doesn't Save New Options for Future Searches/AutoCompletes.

We have submitted over 12,000 entries with this form... I'd love to remove this headache. It's just bizarre there are so many field options that all just slightly miss the mark.

So What's the solution here?

Is there a way to auto update dynamic dropdown options from submissions on a separate field?

Open to any ideas!

SideNote: Unfortunately, I can't share the form as it's HIPAA Compliant, and some of the fields have sensitive data.

We've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it.
