Change Autoresponder email based on user selection

    Good afternoon,

I am working on a form that needs to send an email to the user based upon selection. For example, if any of the following are selected, the response needs to be different.

Clubs for your major: When thinking about academic-related student clubs and organizations, what appeals most to you?

1 A club directly relating to my major or the majors I’m considering.

2 An honor society recognizing my academic achievements.

3 A professional student group focused on leadership.

    4 All of the above.

    5 I'm not sure yet.

If the first selection was made, the email would need to read "From business and education to science, liberal arts and more, explore 140+ clubs on our campus specifically related to majors of interest. Many majors have multiple clubs for you to choose from."

I'm having trouble setting this up due to the URL in the paragraph.

There are three other questions with this type of logic, so separate emails for each selection is not an option.

    Thanks!

    Robin

    Hi Robin,

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. You can actually create multiple Autoresponder emails and use Change Email Recipient condition to set the Email notifications based on the answers from form submitters. I'll show you how:

    Create Multiple Autoresponder emails:

    1. IForm Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on Settings.
    2. In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Emails.
    3. Now, click on Add an Email.
    4. Then, select Autoresponder Email.
    5. Customize the options the way you want them, and you’re done. Change Autoresponder email based on user selection Image 1 Screenshot 40 Change Autoresponder email based on user selection Image 2 Screenshot 51

Add a condition that will send the created Autoresponder Email based on the user's selection.

    1. In Form Builder, in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page, click on the Settings.
    2. In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Conditions.
    3. In the list that pops up, click on Change E-mail Recipient and set a logical condition like the ones below: Change Autoresponder email based on user selection Image 3 Screenshot 62

Thank you. There would be too many options to to set up different emails. I was hoping there was some type of if/then logic that translates directly to the email notification.

If option 1 is selected, add the paragraph to the email.

    Hi Robin,

Unfortunately, what you are trying to implement in your form is not yet possible with Jotform right now, and the possible workaround we can suggest for it is to use the Change E-mail Recipient conditional logic. You can create multiple Autoresponder emails and use Change Email Recipient condition to set the Email notifications based on the answers from form submitters. You can use the guide provided by my colleague if you wish to consider this workaround.

We have here our guide about How to Send Emails Based on a User's Answer that you can check out.
