Hi there,
Now that if there is a tie on group approval, the first response "wins". We are seeking to have the system configured in a manner where a denial from any party results in the entire application being denied.
If such functionality is not already integrated, we strongly urge its consideration, as this practice is incongruent with a structured corporate approval process. It is important to ensure that decisive action is taken in such scenarios, as opposed to treating it as a mere voting exercise.
Thanks a lot!

Hi MCI_Macau,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. You can set up your Approval's Completion Rule to Require a response from the majority so that 3 out of 5 approvals are needed for the submission to be approved. The initial approved response will be the deciding element in circumstances where there is a tie. Let me show you how to do it:
- In the Jotform Approval Builder, click the gear icon of the Approval or Approve & Sign element to open its properties.
- Go to the Approvers section.
- Next, enter the email addresses of the approvers. You’ll automatically see the Completion Rule dropdown when you have multiple approvers.
You might also want to check this guide How to Request a Group Approval With Jotform Approvals for more information.
If that’s not exactly what you’re looking for, can you explain a bit more so I can help you better?
Keep us updated and let us know if you need any more help.

Hi Shirized,
Thank you for the response but I feel our request is not being understood.
Currently, the approval process is under the rule fo this: "In the case of a tie, the majority outcome with the first response is used."
We do not want the application to be approved when any of the approvers deny it - whether it is a tie, or the deny is a minority vote.
Thanks a lot!

Hi MCI_Macau,
Thanks for providing more details regarding your request. Unfortunately, it is not possible to achieve this using the group approval element. I suggest you use the approval branches, so you can deny the submission if only one of the approvers denies it. Let me show you how:
- Combine the Approve branches from multiple approvers and the Denied branches from multiple approvers using the Merge Branches element.
- Go to the Settings of the Merge Branches element and select Wait for any of the branches to be completed in case of Deny approval.
Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
