How to Automatically Add Options on the Dropdown Field

I have numerous forms with the same drop down field. It is a list of companies. What I would like to be able to do is add names to the list automatically, when you fill out the project registration form. Right now, when a new company registers, I have to manually add their name to the list on every form. Takes forever.

If jotform cannot perform this, can you tell me who could help?

    Thanks,

    Hi Anthony,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now. It's not possible to automatically update the options inside the Dropdown field. You will have to manually add the options every time there is a new one.

We've gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

While JotForm doesn't have a built-in feature to automatically populate dropdown options based on form submissions, there are a couple of workarounds you can consider:

    1. Use Integrations: JotForm integrates with various services like Google Sheets and Airtable. You can set up a system where new company registrations are automatically added to a spreadsheet or database. Then, your dropdown options in the form can be populated by pulling data from this external source.
    2. Conditional Logic: If your list of companies isn't massive and doesn't change frequently, you could potentially utilize JotForm's conditional logic feature. This would involve creating a separate form specifically for adding new companies. Then, in your main project registration form, you could conditionally populate the dropdown options based on user selections or form submissions from the company addition form.

However, these methods might require some setup and ongoing maintenance.

Here are some additional options that might be a better fit depending on your specific needs:

    • Form Builders with Dynamic Dropdowns: There are other form builder platforms that offer features specifically designed for handling dynamic dropdown menus based on user input. Exploring these alternatives might be worthwhile if managing dropdown options is a recurring challenge for you.
    • Custom Development: If you have the resources or access to a developer, they could potentially create a custom solution that seamlessly integrates with JotForm to achieve the desired functionality.
