The problem with this is now Chrome flags up "Not secure .." since HTTPS is not supported.

Kindly do note that Custom Domain Form does NOT support HTTPS or SSL as mentioned at the bottom of the user guide: How-to-use-Custom-Domains-with-Jotform
What I would suggest is that you use CloudFlare as your DNS provider. CloudFlare provides you custom SSL and with their proxy support, you just need to create a CNAME and activate their CloudFlare protection.
