In what kind of situation(s) would you recommend using enable/disable instead of hide/show?

Hello SOSStLucia,
Well it depends upon your requirement. For example: say you have a form which you want your users to submit once but when they edit the submission again, you do not want them to edit certain fields. In those cases, you may like to disable those fields if the form URL contains "edit" text.
Please take a look at the following demo form I created for you: https://form.jotformpro.com/71433303695960
I added "Get Form Page URL" widget to check if the form URL contains edit text and then disable the name & email fields. Here are the conditions I added:
Feel free to test this form by using your own email address and you will receive an auto-responder email with edit link. If you click on that edit link, you will find the name & email fields are disabled.
Hope this answers your query.
Do get back to us if you have any questions.
Thank you!
