Jotform Tables: Unexpected Error Occurred

    Hi, Jotform Support, Happy New Year!

    We have been having this issue for a couple of months, and wanted to check in to see if it was a known issue.

    In working on any of our form submissions table, at least twice every session, we'll get the following message:

    Or a similar "Network Error". Whatever we were just doing in the table has to be re-done. We have cleared our cache, it doesn't matter the browser or the form we're working on.

    Once in a while would be considered a normal fluke. The frequency with which this happens makes it quite detrimental to our workflow. Is this a known issue?

    Hi Craddock,

    Happy New Year! Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm sorry this is happening. As I have checked, there's no known issue reported about users getting a Network error.

    We would love to investigate this further, once you will encounter the Network error It would help us to understand what’s happening if you could take a screenshot and send it to us. We have a guide here explaining how to do that.

    Hi April Craddock,

    Thanks for getting back to us with the screenshot. I'm sorry this is happening. Can you try switching to a different internet connection and using a different web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Google Chrome Incognito mode? When I tried to access your Jotform table for the form ID: 233533650112142. I was able to see the submissions without any errors. Let me share the screenshot below:

    Can you please try clearing your Google Chrome's caches and check again? It should resolve an issue. Keep in mind that when you clear your browser's caches, it will log you out of many websites automatically.

    This has happened several times this morning with different forms. I have cleared form cache AND browser cache. It's really hard to get things done in tables when they keep crashing. Any assistance you can provide would be super helpful!

    Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm sorry this is happening. Since the issue keeps reoccurring, we would like to gather some information. Can you provide us with the following details?

    • When it will pop up on your tables? (was it the moment when you open it?)
    • What activities do you do on your table when the error pops up? (was it when you were trying to filter specific detail/s? download? etc)
    • What time of the day does the issue occur? (we're trying to understand if there's a pattern)
    • Does the error appear only when you access the table? if not, please indicate.

    As soon as we hear back from you, we can move forward with a solution.

    Hi, thanks for the quick response. To answer your questions:

    It pops up at random times, and multiple times while working with the table. I haven't see it ever happen at the moment of opening. It's at least several moments after that it tends to happen.

    The error today happened about 5 times on one form table when I was filtering. It happened on another form table today and I was just viewing data. There's no consistent pattern.

    It happens at all times of day. Morning and afternoon. Doesn't seem to have any pattern of any kind.

    It only occurs during table access. Not on the PDF or Form Builder.

    Hi Craddock,

    Thanks for getting back to us. I'm sorry you are having issues with this. I tested the form's Jotform Tables multiple times, but I couldn't replicate the error. To investigate further, can you please take a screenshot of the console report from your browser when the issue happens again in the submission table? This guide will show you how to do that. Also, can you please tell us if you are using any VPN when you access the submission table?

    After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

    Thanks for patiently waiting. ​​I tested your form but couldn’t replicate the issue, so I created a ticket and escalated this to our Developers. Although we can't provide an ETA on when the issue will be fixed. Rest assured that we’ll get back to you with an update as soon as we have one.

    Hi, just checking back on this, as the "unexpected error" issue happens so frequently this week that it's difficult to work in the Tables part of forms. I've cleared the cache, cleared browser history, tried different browsers, and this happens for a variety of forms (not just one in particular).


    Has there been any movement on this at all, and what might be causing it?

    Hi Craddock,

    We examined the logs however we found that when the tables crashed the web requests never reached to our servers.

    Thanks to your console screenshot that you provided, we can see that the URL contains "X-OpenDNS-Session". Are you using any gateway/DNS solution such as OpenDNS, or Cisco Umbrella? If you are using it, could you please try with another internet connection without these features?

    Hi, thanks for this suggestion. I'm at a location where I don't have to use the usual Cisco Umbrella, and the tables keep crashing regardless. Here's the console report.
