Adoption Information:
You are not "buying a puppy" ~ you are SUPPORTING A MISSION
We are a 501c3 non-profit major medical, critical care & hospice rescue home - providing for animals who find their way to us from across the country (and the world).
Please keep in mind that many of our available animals were born with deformities or major medical conditions - rescued at birth and hand raised 'round the clock for many months ... others are critical care rescues, received from shelters / veterinary hospitals / other rescues and private individuals.
In all cases, they require an exorbitant amount of both time and expense in raising / rehabilitating prior to being able to provide you with a vibrant, healthy companion.
We are a small, single family rescue home - fully funded by private donations and adoption fees alone.
Our STANDARD adoption fees are outlined below:
**In some cases, adoption fees may be more or less than noted below - each rescue case is different so please pay close attention to details within the particular adoption post which directed you to this page**
Puppies & Adults to 10 years: $450.00
Advanced Seniors - 11 years and up: $350.00
PLEASE NOTE
**Bulldogs and other snub-nosed dogs (Pug, Boston Terrier, Pekingese, etc), Giant Breeds & Those Requiring Extraordinary Care Prior To Placement - Require A Higher Adoption Fee, Ranging Between $600.00 and $1800.00 ~ Case By Case Basis**
** An adoption application, adoption agreement and spay / neuter contract (if not already altered prior to adoption) - is required to adopt any of our animals **
Our animals are located in the Amarillo, TX area
** Air delivery is available within the USA (and select areas of Canada - *Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, BC*) - for an additional fee of:
$575 for puppies / dogs up to 10 lbs
$675 up to 20 lbs
$775 up to 30 lbs
$875 up to 40 lbs
$975 up to 50 lbs
(for dogs over 50 lbs, please contact for special arrangements and fees as dictated by the airlines)**
** air delivery fee includes all airline fees, vet certified health certificate and documentation required to fly, airline approved travel kennel (yours to keep) w/ soft travel pad, blanket and food / water cups... and transport to the airport on flight day (a 2 to 9 hour round trip for us, depending on required departure location)**
Our adoptable animals are rescue animals and are NOT REGISTERED.
We make every effort to acquire and provide as much history on each animal as possible but we cannot guarantee the ultimate size, personality, temperament or even breed of rescued animals. Many years of experience and personal history in working with orphan newborns gives us very good insight in the ability to "guesstimate" but there are those pups who prove us wrong from time to time.
** 100% of the proceeds of placement of our rescue animals goes directly towards the ongoing care of the major medical, critical care and sanctuary rescue residents of Friends Of Emma Medical Rescue. ** (we benefit in no way from air delivery fees - those are just a fraction of our actual costs in getting your new family member home to you)
All adoptable puppies / dogs will have age appropriate vaccinations, are wormed routinely, started on Heartgard for heartworm prevention and K9 Advantix for flea / tick / mosquito control and will receive a full veterinary well-check and vet certified health certificate prior to going to new homes. Adult dogs are heartworm tested upon arrival into our care. Special needs animals must be stabilized and deemed "medically fit for transition" before being released for adoption.
