Drain Marker Event Notification

This form is for notifying Water Resources staff of your scheduled date to volunteer for the placement of drain markers. Volunteers must be 10 years old or older. Please submit the form online before your scheduled event and provide a minimum of two weeks' notice for staff to complete your kits.*

**NOTES for Community-Wide Events**

Please provide 2 backup dates for your event, pending approval from City staff to confirm their availability. Staff will contact you to finalize the event date. Events will be promoted only if staff can attend at least the introduction.
Volunteers must be 10 years old or older, and children under 16 must be supervised at all times.

Stream Clean-upDrain Marker Placement

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department can provide rubber gloves, trash bags, buckets, grabbers and/or fish scales for your volunteer effort. Which of these will you need (select all that apply)?

**NOTE**

Buckets are used to reduce the number of bags used during cleanups and are often easier to handle in the creek than bags.
Regarding scales, weight isn’t required but it’s helpful with reporting.

Typically 2 bags per person per hour is enough without buckets.

Number of buckets needed*

Buckets with holes reduce water weight by allowing water to drain, reducing the amount of plastic bags needed. They are also easier to manage in the stream. Typically 1 bucket per pair is enough.

Number of grabbers needed*

Typically all participants don’t need a grabber- 1 grabber per pair is enough.

Fish scales needed

If you will be coming to our office to pick up materials, please tell us the date you plan to arrive so the materials will be ready for pickup. Two weeks' notice is required for materials pickup. Post cleanup procedures:

Collection Location. Where does the city need to collect the materials after stream cleanup? (Example: Bags at Adopt-A-Stream sign at Aycock and Benjamin)*

Properly secure and completely tie all bags. Group the bags together, and if safe and practical, place them at least 8 feet from the road.
