Brandon Budget Tax Estimator
FY25 "C" Revised Town Budget Proposal to be voted May 21, 2024
"Economic Development Works"
The FY25 tax rate will benefit from some economic development work laid by the Town several years ago. Tax stabilization agreements per long-dormant policy began to be used as a tool by our economic development officer and selectboard, and the first couple of these have reached maturity in 2023. That means that going forward, rather than paying tax at the stabilized value of the property, these properties will pay tax based on the full value of the property including the large investments the owners made in them. This increases the Grand List (assessed value of all real property in Brandon) and grows our tax base, which allows a lower tax rate to raise an equivalent amount of money.

Do not enter your Zillow estimate or estimated market value. Your property taxes are calculated from its Assessed Value, not its market value. You will find this on your tax bill. If you do not know your Assessed Value, you may go to this page https://next.axisgis.com/BrandonVT/ of the town website, put in your address or name, and select your property. Then choose "NEMRC Online Property Card". Your Assessed Value generally appears to the right of the word Total and above a picture of your house.
