As a member of the Schlow Esports Club, I agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by Schlow Centre Region Library in order to maintain a positive and inclusive community. These include but are not limited to the following core values:
Respect for all club members.
Inclusiveness for all members regardless of race, color, origin, sex, age, and disability.
Sportsmanship through play and interactions with other club members.
Integrity and honesty (includes cheating and other acts of malicious conduct, such as screen sharing during matches to gain an unfair advantage over opponents).
Leadership: All club members should strive to be role models inside and outside of the club.
All members are expected to adhere to the following rules set forth by Schlow Library, as well as to adhere to the Centre County Federation of Public Libraries User Behavior Policy, the Internet Use and Privacy Policies. The Federation libraries include Schlow Centre Region Library and Centre County Library, its branches, its Museum, and its Bookmobile. These policies include prohibiting any act that is illegal, or disrupts or prevents the normal or intended use of the virtual or physical Library. Additionally:
- Be respectful of others (Don’t share/stream another member’s gameplay without their consent). Harassment is not permitted in any case. This includes but is not limited to - interaction in public chat channels, public voice channels, or private messages if both parties are members of our community.
- Do not share any explicit content.
- Hateful language, such as derogatory language related to race, gender, and all other sensitive topics, is not permitted in any case and may result in an automatic ban from the club.
- All club members are expected to hold themselves to the same standards in-game that they are held to in the community Discord.
Membership:
All club members must be registered with Schlow Centre Region Library. Only verified club members, with parent permission, may join and participate in club activities including joining the official Discord. Exceptions to this are community-wide activities hosted by Schlow Centre Region Library and will explicitly invite the participation of all community members regardless of club membership status. Membership Mediation:
In the event of violation of club or Schlow policies and/or a conflict between members, official club volunteers or Schlow staff not involved in the conflict will facilitate mediation through the following procedure:
- Arrange for a mediation session between the involved members.
- Set ground rules.
- Allow both parties to express their viewpoints on the conflict and encourage both sides to view the conflict from each party’s standpoint.
- Facilitate setting goals to help reach a resolution.
- If no resolution is able to be obtained, parental/guardian involvement may be deemed necessary.
Membership Removal:
Schlow Centre Region Library reserves the right to expel a member who violates club or Schlow Library policies.
Process of Membership Removal:
First Incident: Official Verbal and/or Written Warning
After a first incident, the community member will be issued a warning by an official Schlow Library staff member or volunteer. The member’s parent/guardian will also be notified.
Second Incident: Official Verbal and/or Written Warning & Meeting
After a second incident, the community member will be required to schedule a mediation session with an official Schlow Library staff member or volunteer. The member’s parent/guardian will also be notified of the second incident and will also be required to attend the mediation session.
Third Incident: Expulsion from Club
Community members who commit a third offense will be subject to expulsion from the club. The member’s parent/guardian will be notified of the decision as well as the reason for expulsion.
Once implemented, actions originating in any library will be upheld throughout all of the Centre County Federation of Public Libraries facilities.
The Centre County Federation of Public Libraries is a limited public forum. Appeals may be submitted to the governing Library Board within 15 days of official notification of actions taken to suspend or revoke privileges.
