  • Alumni Award Nomination Form

  • Thank you for your interest in nominating yourself/another member for a Mortar Board alumni award. When you honor someone with a nomination, you show appreciation, admiration, and awareness of the purpose of Mortar Board.

    A nomination must contain sufficient information about the nominee's credentials, career, Mortar Board service, and achievements for the selection committee to holistically evaluate the nominee.

    While nominations may be made any time of year, all nominating materials must be submitted no later than May 15, 2026. Please note: The Distinguished Lifetime Member Award require a second-stage submission. Nominators will be contacted with additional instructions and deadlines if their nominee advances.  Questions or supporting nomination materials may be directed to mortarboard@mortarboard.org.

  • AWARD CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS

     

    EMERGING LEADER AWARD

    The Emerging Leader Award is presented to members within 20 years of their initiation who demonstrate leadership within their community, industry, field, and/or area of interest.

    ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

    The Alumni Achievement Award honors members who are advanced in their careers and have carried the Mortar Board ideals into their personal and professional life. They will have attained stature in their field and demonstrated sustained, exceptional leadership.

    DISTINGUISHED LIFETIME MEMBER AWARD

    The Distinguished Lifetime Member (DLM) Award honors a member who has spent a lifetime in service to Mortar Board with achievements and contributions befitting this highest honor.

    Nomination Process:
    Initial nominations (name submission) must be received by May 15, 2026. Due to the depth and distinction of this award, selected nominators will be invited to submit additional materials as part of a full nomination packet. Further instructions and timelines will be provided following the initial submission.

    VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

    The Volunteer of the Year Award honors a dedicated individual who has volunteered their time and talents on behalf of Mortar Board National College Honor Society during the past year. Through their outstanding service, they have advanced the mission of Mortar Board at the national level, exemplifying the society's values of scholarship, leadership, and service.

  • NOMINATION MATERIALS FOR EMERGING ALUMNI AND ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

     

    1. STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
    Provide a letter of support describing the accomplishments of the nominee and why they should be considered for the award. Please include experiences, demonstrated leadership, achievements, and awards/honors received that support your nomination. Self-nominations/personal statements of support are welcome.


    2. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
    Biographical information for the nominee includes chapter, degrees, and professional employment. These can be an attached resume/CV, a link to a LinkedIn page, or a bulleted list within the letter of support.


    3. ENDORSEMENT INFORMATION
    Include name(s) and contact information of people who will endorse your nomination. Contacts may be asked to:

    • provide personal observations with specific examples of the nominee's strengths,
    • and address the successes and landmarks of excellence demonstrated by the nominee's life.

    4. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (OPTIONAL)
    Any other relevant information or documents (e.g., photos, press releases, testimonials) that you would like to provide to the selection committee.
