Rakevet General Board Positions 2008-2009:
President: Secretary of Division-Chapter Relations (1) As Secretary of Division-Chapter Relations, you will ensure that Divisional Vice Presidents communicate with their chapter constituents on a regular basis and be responsible for the general flow between the two entities.
JTLC Chair (1) Formerly known as JTLCOLI, the Jewish Teen Leadership Council of Long Island is an organization whose purpose is to bridge the gap between Jewish teens in different youth organizations, including USY, Young Judea, NFTY, Mid Island Y, and more. The teenage representatives on the JTLC board meet monthly to discuss current topics relative to Jewish teens and/or American Jews. One person will be selected to represent the Rakevet Division to this esteemed organization.
Lounge Night Chair (1) This chair will help with the theming, logistical planning, and successful running of all Rakevet divisional lounge nights.
Fall Kinnus Chairs (2-3) Chairs will work with the Executive Board to plan all aspects of Rakevet Fall Kinnus 2008, which will take place on November 14-16 at Dix Hills Jewish Center. They will be responsible for selecting a theme, as well as planning the logistics of the Kinnus. Chairs will also be expected to attend weekly and/or daily Kinnus meetings.
(Note: Spring Kinnus Chairs will be selected at a later date)
Israel Affairs:
Israel Affairs Assistant (1) This position will be a general assistant for all programming. The assistant will touch base with all other Israel Affairs General Board positions.
Israel Programming Chair (1) This Israel chair will help in creating, preparing, and leading programs for different events throughout the year. Israeli Current Events Chair (1)
Throughout the year, the Israeli Current Events Chair will send e-mails and newsletters updating the division about current events and important information regarding Israel. As current events chair, he/she will help with gathering information, composing e-mails, and informing the division.
Religion/Education: Ruach Chair (1-2) This person will be the center of Ruach. Before events the Ruach chair and the Rel/Ed will discuss and plan out the Ruach sessions for the upcoming divisional event. The Ruach Chair will also take requests from people as to different Ruach songs they might want to do and is encouraged to think of new songs to implement into Ruach.
Beadle (2-3) A beadle’s responsibilities will include handing out B’Kol Echads and siddurim during events and informing each USYer who is participating in the service of his or her role and when it will be his or her turn to go up. In short, he or she must make sure that the service runs smoothly. During Ruach, Beadles will be expected to participate. Ideally, Beadles should spread out during Ruach to try to get others involved.
Social Action/Tikun Olam: Social Action/Tikun Olam Assistant (1) This USYer will help the SA/TO VP plan programs that will be implemented at kinnusim. He/She will also help find SA/TO opportunities on Long Island, that will be reiterated to Rakevet USYers via e-mail. He/She will help keep track of Chapter SA/TO VPs. Overall, this person will be the SA/TO VP's right hand man (or woman).
Social Action Events Chair (1) This person will work with the SA/TO VP on programming that is independent of other events—such as a Mitzvah Day, Blood Drive, and more.
Membership/Kadima: USY Membership Officer (1-2) This officer(s) will focus on membership increase on the USY level. He/she will also help with the creation of the USY Handbook for all new members, and programming binder that will go to every chapter.
Kadima Committee (2-3) These USYers' main focus will be membership increase in Kadima. They will help with all programming for Kadimaniks, including going to Kadima chapter meetings to promote USY.
Communications: Traxx Editor (1) The Traxx Editor will be responsible for collecting articles and editing the Traxx, Rakevet’s official newspaper, which is published on a regular basis.
Photographers (2) The photographers will be responsible for taking pictures throughout the year and forwarding them to the Divisional and/or Regional Communications VP. A digital camera is required to apply for this position.

Conditions
|
|
Bear in mind that as a General Board member, you will have certain responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
|
|
~Attendance at chapter and divisional meetings, events, and functions
|
|
~DUGMAH, or role model, good behavior at all events and whenever possible outside of USY
|
|
~Adherence to the laws of KASHRUT and SHABBAT when possible
|
|
~Compliance with the divisional officers with whom you will be working
|
|
~Enthusiastic support of the Rakevet division
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
