Hello mybackcracker ,
I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly.
You may like to take a look at our "Narrative Fields" widgets and see if this is what you wanted to achieve.
Do get back to us if you meant to ask something else. Please be noted that you can always inject custom css code in your form to position your form fields in any place. Please explain your requirement a bit more in detail and we will surely help you.
Thank you!

mybackcrackerReplied on November 30, 2014 at 11:41 PMHello...
The Narrative Fields is similar to what I want only I would like to be able
to inject previously answered fields into a narrative...
"(Name) presented in my office today (Date) with complaints related to the
(Region)"
I do not want the patient to type in the answers but would rather be
creating a hidden document while they are completing the form.
Also I made a form to evaluate the different multiple choice options. I am
excited that you are introducing widgets but I find the instructions and
functions are sometimes unclear.
If I want to have multiple answers I can use checkboxes...the normal
checkbox option uses very small buttons but the buttons can be staggered as
to not create one big long list. The results are listed horizontally and
with commas. This is true for the fancy checkboxes also. The checklist
widget provides one column and the results are listed for both the checked
and unchecked results. The Button Checkbox runs off the page after 5
options and columns can not be set like they are in the button radios. The
Line Checkboxes only have one column and the results can not be used to
populate a field as extra characters show up. Checkbox dropdown lists
results vertically.
A widget that utilized the buttons like Button Checkboxes or Line
Checkboxes that were able to be arranged like those in Button Radios makes
it much easier for those using phones and tablets. I have found that when
people scroll through a long list they skip over choices but when they are
in blocks they are more apt to read side to side and up and down.
Since as of now there is no way to create a document with populated fields,
I have made a review page for patients to see their choices. I like
multiple answers to be horizontal and with commas but I like the larger
buttons and multiple columns.
You can see the hoices here http://form.jotform.us/form/43215556518153
Thanks....and are there any document builders that jotform works with
through nethooks or zapier?

Hello mybackcracker,
The Narrative Fields is similar to what I want only I would like to be able to inject previously answered fields into a narrative...
Unfortunately, it is not possible to achieve your requirement within the form. Let me ask a question for more clarity. You do not want to do this in form right? If I understand it correctly, you want to display it to your user. Is that correct?
I believe it is possible to achieve your requirement by posting the answers to your form's thank you page. The following guide should help you: http://www.jotform.com/help/201-How-to-Post-Answers-to-Thank-you-Page
You can also sent the submission data to your own thank you page where you can format and display it based on your requirement. The following guide should help you: http://www.jotform.com/help/51-How-to-Post-Submission-Data-to-Thank-You-Page
There you should be able to display the submission data similar to narrative field. Please check the following demo form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/43340715634956?
The output of this should be as displayed in the screenshot below:
I am not sure if I have understood your question related to widgets. It seems the issue is how the out put of the widgets are displayed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to customize the output format of widgets. The only solution is to post the form's submission data to you own page and then you can read and format it based on your requirement on how you want it to be displayed.
Thank you!
